General Media Statement for Release (March 18, 2020)

General Media Statement for Release

With the health and safety of our students, staff and community members being paramount, I am reaching out to share with you that on March 18, 2020, the District learned that a member of the household of a Bonham ISD employee has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus. While the employee in question does not show any signs or symptoms associated with the COVID-19 virus, the employee will be off work for the next 14 days. The subject employee did work in District for one day. District employees who had direct contact with the employee at work have been notified, and will also be off duty for the next 14 days in an abundance of caution. We have asked all employees who are off work due to these circumstances to self-quarantine in accordance with CDC guidelines. To be clear, none of these employees are currently exhibiting any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, nor has any District employee or student been diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus. The District will continue to monitor matters, and provide updates as circumstances dictate.  It is imperative that we be sensitive and understanding of those that have been personally affected by this virus, and that we all continue to work together to ensure our community members remain safe and healthy.
