I am THANKFUL for Each of You
Every one of you who is part of the Bonham ISD family gives to this family in their own special way - each of your unique gifts and talents makes BISD what it is. Without each contribution, we would not be able to complete our mission - which is to care for the whole child.
I am thankful each of you was first selected to become part of the family and second that you have chosen to stay! I am thankful for what you each bring to the District - you each hold the power to move BISD from good to great!
My prayer is that you are able to count all of the blessings in your life and live with gratitude and positivity.
Have a restful Thanksgiving Break, be safe, stay healthy and I will see you in a little over a week.
~Kelly

EDUCATION SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL'S DAY
Wednesday, November 18th
BISD celebrates our Instructional Coaches, Interventionists, Instructional Specialist and Instructional Deans.
These individuals work tirelessly to provide targeted small group instruction to students, provide pedagogical support to teachers and help guide the curriculum on campuses to ensure vertical alignment throughout the District. They lead the disaggregation of data in PLC meetings to inform and guide instruction in order that students are successful and are college and career ready.

SUBSTITUTE APPRECIATION DAY
Friday, November 20th
We are so fortunate for all of the substitute educators who serve our school district!
Substitute teachers ensure learning continues when our teachers must be out of the classroom.
Substitute teachers step into a new classroom everyday and make sure it operates seamlessly.
Substitute teachers often 'jump in' without much notice and no preparation time.
THANK YOU for all you do!!

BHS Self Portraits
Students in Mrs. DeVore's Art classes have been drawing self-portraits with pencil.
I was very impressed with the talents of these three students!!

THANKFUL THURSDAY @ CENTRAL OFFICE
Yesterday central office staff were treated to a Pancake Breakfast.
I made pancakes and Traci made her delicious syrup from scratch and served each staff member their desired toppings!!

The TRACK @ Warrior Stadium
The track at Warrior Stadium is ready for full use as all painting was completed mid-week.
I am proud we now have a safe facility in which our students can practice, prepare and compete before and during track season.

Top 10 Strategies to Use in Your Classroom
9. GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS:
Graphic organizers summarize the information in a concise manner.
Using a flow chart, Venn diagram, or web, students get to see the information in a new light. This helps them organize the information in their minds, so they can better grasp the new concepts.
10. PROVIDING FEEDBACK:
Students don’t always know if they’re doing a good job without you telling them so.
Regularly provide written or verbal feedback for individual or group assignments and make this part of your classroom culture.
Remember that students often don’t know why something is wrong, so whenever possible and time permitting, take a few moments to explain why you’ve marked something “incorrect” on tests and assignments.
It’s also a great idea to conduct regular “group feedback” sessions based on patterns you’re seeing in your students’ work. If a fair share of your students seem to be struggling with a concept, it’s often more beneficial to create a lesson targeting that topic and discussing the patterns you’ve seen in class work generally.
Remember, of course, to provide plenty of positive feedback as well as feedback indicating where a student has room to grow or what a student should do differently. Encouragement helps keep students’ morale, inspiration, and drive high.
And finally, it can be beneficial to turn the tables sometimes. Let the students provide you feedback to tell you how you’re doing as well. You can do this in the form of a discussion, issue class surveys (that can be answered anonymously or not), or ask students to email you with feedback.

COVID Procedure Change
A test-confirmed individual who believes they have received a false positive has two options:
- obtain a medical professional's note clearing their return based on an alternate diagnosis
- obtain two PCR acute infection tests at least 24 hours apart that come back with a negative test result
~ This is only for the test confirmed individual who has been sent home. This will not change the outcome for a person determined to be in close contact.

Free COVID Testing Info
Visit gogettested.com and select Grayson College as the location to schedule a test. The mobile testing center is located in the parking lot on the Grayson College Denison campus next to the baseball field (under the Water Tower).
The turnaround time is 24-36 hours after the test is administered, and the notification of results once completed is nearly instantaneously sent to the test subject via an app.
