Rayen Campbell ~ KXII A+ Athlete of the Week
Last week's A+ Athlete was Rayen Campbell of Bonham High School. Rayen is a member of the National Honor Society, Texas Scholars, Student Council, and has a 5.73-grade point average. She's also a class officer, involved with several organizations, and is active in her church. Rayen is the drum major in the Bonham band as well. She is also great on the track. Rayen is a regional qualifier in track and cross country, she's a pole vaulter, and the leader of the cross country team. Representing her town and her school is something she takes great pride in.
"Out there in the real world, it is a very competitive place," said A+ Athlete Rayen Campbell. "If we shine in what we do in everything, we will be looked at first."
"The ideal student. She's a great representative of our high school, in the classroom and outside the classroom," said Bonham math teacher Jonna Spiller. "I'm just happy to know her and be a part of her education so far because she's awesome."
As a recipient of the award, Rayen will receive a scholarship and is eligible for A+ Athlete of the Year!! Congratulations Rayen!

Handle With Care
Chief Bankston, Bonham Police Department, and Sherriff Johnson, Fannin County Sherriff’s Department, are supportive of the Handle With Care program and have agreed to have their officers notify a central contact at Bonham ISD when one of our students is present during serious law enforcement interactions while at their home, in their neighborhood or in a vehicle. That central contract will, in turn, notify the campus principal who will inform the students' teacher(s).
No District employee will learn details of the law enforcement interaction; all staff will know is to “handle Johnny with care” and realize the traumatic experience from the evening before may be a factor in today's behavior.
I am grateful to Finley-Oates’ teacher Lori Parsons for learning about the program and to Finley-Oates’ Principal Mary Lou Fox for organizing the meeting and ensuring implementation of the program!!
